‘Up Close’ brings you face to face with a humpback whale. The eye beckons your gaze, and the subtly layered colours move you around this whale portrait. Some of the colours conjure the deep blues and greens of the pacific west coast, the summer feeding grounds of many humpbacks. The brighter turquoise hues depicts the more tropical waters of Hawaiian and Southern breeding territories.
This print can be combined with ‘Pectoral Fin‘ to form a diptych – 2 side-by-side coordinating artworks.
Original, limited edition of 50 18″ x 12″ print on 22″ x 15″ paper. This can be framed in a standard 13″ x 19″ frame, or 18″ x 24″ frame with a matte with a 13″ x 19″ cutout.
Linocut is a printmaking technique, similar to woodcut. A design is cut into a piece of linoleum with sharp knives and chisels. Ink is rolled over the linoleum surface and then press onto paper. Printing can be done by hand or with a press.
