‘Mermaid hair’ is a completely hand-made block print carved from a rubber plate and stamped on to paper. It has subtle gradations of sea greens, blues and turquoise as well as hints of metallic gold, and some orange hues on the sea star. This is an original hand-printed art work so colours will vary with each print.
Linocut is a blockprinting technique, similar to woodcutting. A design is cut into a piece of linoleum with carving tools such as sharp knives and chisels. Ink is rolled over the carved surface and then pressed onto paper. All my prints are my original designs, hand-carved by me. I ink and print each one by hand so every print is unique!
The printed area is approximately 12″ x 18″ on 15″ x 22″ Arnhem 1619 100% cotton deckled archival paper, and the design is printed with Speedball block printing inks. This can be framed in a standard 13″ x 19″ frame, or 18″ x 24″ frame with a matte.
